Tom Gordon MP calls for support for local independent brewers
Tom Gordon, MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough, has put a question to the Chancellor and Treasury about support for the local independent brewers in the constituency. Today he received a response from the Treasury.
The response was inadequate and did not address the key issues. Tom asked what steps the Chancellor was taking to support the independent brewing industry. The reply did not mention any steps being taken by the Chancellor, simply stating measures already in place.
Tom Gordon MP has been vocal in his support of local breweries, and celebrating local events such as the upcoming Harrogate beer week. The brewing industry contributes to the local economy, providing jobs and bringing people into the area.
Commenting, Tom said:
“I'm proud to have asked the Treasury what they are doing to support local brewers in Harrogate, Knaresborough and across the country. Sadly, their answer is disappointing and lacks conviction.
“It is fantastic that Harrogate and Knaresborough's breweries are back for the fourth year of Harrogate Beer Week. With exciting events all week long, I encourage everyone to get involved and show their support for our outstanding local breweries.”
