Commenting on the news that the Government is considering cutting disability benefits, Tom has issued the following comment:

"The news that Keir Starmer and his government may be planning to slash welfare spending by billions is deeply concerning. With 3.6 million people relying on disability benefits nationally, any cut would have a devastating impact on millions of lives.

"PIP exists for a reason - to cover the extra costs of disability, whether someone is working or not. Cutting it isn’t just cruel - it completely misunderstands its purpose. It’s as if the government thinks slashing benefits will somehow erase the costs of disability. Its not just delusional but also dangerous.

"The impact of any cuts to disability benefits would be devastating. Disabled people already face higher living costs, and many are struggling in poverty. These costs would push even more into hardship. This isn’t just a badly thought-out policy, but an outright attack on disabled people.

“If Starmer’s government follows through with this, they will be turning their backs on millions of disabled people, and turning a blind eye to the daily struggles disabled people face. It would be abundantly clear that this is not a government for all.”
